About the Programme:

The Commercial Practice Programme was started from the year 1992-93 with the sole objective of bringing the differently abled students into the mainstream of the society. It is related to business and its applications.  The candidates can have a career in the area of Accounting, Office & Administration, Financial Information, documentation in large establishments like Banks, Hotels, Big Malls, Commercial and Industrial Establishments, etc.

This programme aims at providing theoretical as well as practical knowledge in the area of Accountancy, Economics, Business and Marketing Management, Business Law, Income Tax Practice, Business Arithmetic, Statistics, Stenography and Computer Skills like Tally, MS-Office, Networking etc.

The programme is having well experienced, qualified and committed staff with communication and Sign Language skills to teach differently abled students. The duration of the Programme is  three years having six semesters and the Diploma is awarded by the Board of Technical Examination, Bengaluru Government of Karnataka.

The Programme is Grant–in-aid having autonomous status and the curriculum is regularly revised and the outcome based education system has been implemented.  The Workshops and Guest Lectures are arranged with the Sign Language Interpreter to meet the curriculum gaps and the present requirement of the industries.

The Commercial Practice diploma graduates have career opportunities as Business Executive, Accountant, HR Manager, Data Analyst, Marketing Manager, Investment Banker, Wealth Manager, Computer Operators, Lab Instructors and Stenographers.

Most of our alumni are employed in various reputed Companies / Organizations like, Wipro, State Bank of India, Indian Railways, Indian Airways and KPTCL etc,.

Students who wish to pursue higher studies can opt for courses like B.Com / BBM/BCA Degree (Lateral entry to Second Year Directly) and after graduation, they can plan for further higher studies like M.Com/MBA/ICWA/ICAI/ICS and CFA offered by any recognized University/Institutions.

Eligibility:  Candidates who have passed SSLC (Karnataka) or its equivalent and minimum disability must be 40% in the case of Orthopedically Disabled, 60db for Hearing Impaired and 6/60 or 20/200 Snellen for Visually Impaired (Partial or Full) are eligible for admission to this course.

1. Basic and Discipline specific knowledge: An ability to apply Commerce, Statistics, English Language, Office Work Skills for Corporate and Government Sectors towards solving the managerial functions in executing the jobs independently at all levels of management.

2. Problem Analysis: Identify and analyze well-defined Business, Office Management and Secretarial Problems in Corporate and Government Sectors by using Explicit Knowledge methods.

3. Design/ Development of Solutions: Apply and use modern office tools and equipment in managerial and secretarial activities for solving problems with real time examples.

4. Managerial / Secretarial Tools: Apply appropriate office automation tools and techniques in commerce and office management requirements.

5. Business and office practices for society, sustainability and     environment: Apply Business, Management and Office knowledge in the context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.

6. Project Management: Use Business, Management and Secretarial Principles as a team member, individual, Professional or a leader to manage activities by effective communication.

7. Life-long learning: To identify the need of differently abled for continuous updating of knowledge and skills relevant society and change in technology.

Programmme Educational Objectives

1.  Set the foundation to develop Diploma in Commercial Practice Professional to acquire knowledge in                         commerce, management, computer and secretarial skills to meet the manpower requirements of industry and           society.

2.  Develop a positive attitude towards lifelong learning and succeed in   employment or higher education.

3.  Impart value based education to enable the differently abled student to uphold the value and ethics of the                 Profession.

Programme Specific Outcomes

1. Provides foundation in English and basics of computers for better understanding the concepts in Commercial            Practice.

2. Provides training to identify and solve problems in the field of Commercial Practice.

3. Provides support system in office management skills and secretarial practice in solving real time problems.

Commercial Practice Programme has a separate Computer Laboratory to teach Commercial Practice students.  In this lab, there are 41 Computer Systems with higher end configuration, LCD TV with PC Connectivity, Printers, Braille Printer, Scanners, Networking, Internet Connection, Wi-Fi facility and other accessories. 

This lab is being used to train the students of this Programme in the following subjects:

  • Tally Accounting Package
  • Desk Top Publishing Computer Typing (English)
  • Interactive and Progressive English
