About the Department:

JSSPDA is conducting a diploma and short term courses in Jewellery Design and Technology from the academic year 2000-01 with the support of World Gold Council and JSS MVP, an International non-profit making organization, involved in jewellery production technology promotional activities. This is the first polytechnic across India to offer a three year diploma course, in Jewellery design and technology coursing the areas of Jewellery Design and Manufacturing Techniques.
According to the industrial needs the curriculum has been implemented which includes subjects like Mathematics, Chemistry, Introduction to jewellery making techniques, Stone settings, Casting and design studies etc. The department is having Experienced and highly qualified staff who have acquired communication skills and subject skill to teach differently abled students.

The programme aim is to give more practical knowledge in the area of jewellery design and making. The students can participate in state as well as international level in jewellery designing and making. The department conducts various guest lectures, Workshop, Industrial visit to expose the students to know practically through interaction, working method and employment practices. Many of our Alumni are placed in various Jewellery industries like Tanisqh(Titan), Joyalukkas, Blue stone, melora jewells,  Arum, A – Star, Ganjam jewelers, Rajesh exports, Pruthvi Jewels,3D-Max and many more Industries.

Eligibility: Candidates who have passed SSLC (Karnataka) or its equivalent and students with loco motor disabilities and hearing impaired are eligible for admission.

Program Outcomes

  1. Basic and Discipline Specific Knowledge:  Apply the knowledge of basic mathematics, science and engineering in the field of Jewellery Design to solve engineering problems.
  2. Problem Analysis: Identify and analyze well defined Jewellery Design problems codified standard method.
  3. Design/Development of solution: Use acquired knowledge and methodologies in jewellery designing and manufacturing to analyse, interpret the data,and to synthesise the information to arrive at valid conclusions for Jewellery manufacturing problems.
  4. Engineering Tools, Experimentation and Testing: Apply modern Engineering tools and appropriate technology technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.
  5. Engineering Practice for Society, Sustainability and Environment: Apply appropriate Technology in the contest of society, Sustainability, environment and Ethical practice.
  6. Project Management: Use Engineering management principles individually as a team member or a Leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined Engineering activities.
  7. Life-Long Learning: Ability to analyze needs and engage in updating in the context of technological changes.

  1. Lead a successful career as an employee or entrepreneur in the field of Jewellery Design and Technology.
  2. Exhibit creative manual and CAD designs to present his or her ideas and thoughts efficiently.
  3. Able to work effective as an individual in multi discipline and society at large.
  4. Adopt the latest changes and development in the field of Jewellery Design and Technology.
 

Programme Specific Objectives

  1. Enable students to meet an individual in industry level in present context.
  2. Provide more information on Modern jewellery trends in jewellery making in the present context as Imitation jewellery and Temple designing.

Facilities:

  • The Department offers state of art facilities with excellent infrastructure which comprises of four well Equipped Laboratories, Smart Class rooms, Wi-Fi facility etc. accessible for differently abled students.
  •  The Department is strengthened by well qualified faculty members whose main aim is to make students aware of the cutting edge technology with competence, commitment & team work.
  • The teaching is reinforced through sign language Lip reading, total communication and visual media presentations in the classrooms and labs. 
  • The department has recently acquired the latest computers for the computer laboratories necessary for training the students as per the revised curriculum

Activities:

  • A continuous interaction with industries is established through sponsored projects & industrial visits.
  • Arranging Guest Lectures by Experts from Industries and other organizations for Students and Staff.
  • Arranging Personality Development Workshops for Students. Short term course conducted based on CAD designing, Casting Process and Imitation jewellery.
  • 100% placement in every year.
  • Most of alumni has been participated national and international level for designing and jewellery making computation and won prizes
  • The students are encouraged to participate in State Level and National Level Technical Project competitions like ‘Do It Yourself Exhibition’ conducted by DTE, Karnataka.
  • The students are also participating in the Sutturu Jathra Events like Cultural event, Technical Project Exhibition, Drawing competition, etc.,

Opportunities are given to students who are interested to participate in extracurricular activities like sports and cultural events...
